SIMON Simon Doreys - "Book Of Modern Love Songs"What you see & hear is what you get with Simon Dorey.There are no aires and graces attached to this singer/songwriter from Bury.In the music world of today,there is something rare about Simon. He don't rely on anything other than his vocals and his songs to get noticed. So when his second album turned up I had high expectations..."Wasting my time"...ahhh Simon,you're far from doing that I must say.This song has been going around in my head for such a long time and in my mind would be a hit if released for the club scene & it could well rocket Simon into the charts.They're notorious to break,but Simon has what it takes to break them...go for it!I'm going to be brutally honest here,there isn't a bad song on this album.I don't like to go into too much detail,as I believe that its up to the listener to decide if a cd is good or not but I will always say if a cd isn't worth the disc its on...but the "Book of modern love songs" I feel is going to be one of the greatest undiscovered cd's of our time which is a tremendous shame for Simon and all who were involved in the making of this album.Like I said there are no bad tracks on this album but there are some songs I like more than the next one or the one previous to it. If Without a doubt,the 'stand out' above all others is "Fly Away".I didn't believe that "Wasting my time" could be marched off the dance floor or one of my all time favourite songs ("Too much to want you") could be upstaged,but "Fly Away" is over 4 and a half minutes of pure heartbreak and romance.You can't help but shed a tear or two at hearing the evident longing in Simon's voice throughout the song.So is the album worth the wait?Most definitly! I just hope that it gets Simon the wider recognition he so richly deserves.Jacqueline Michelle D.J. Kev James and his review of my album simon dorey"S book of modern love songs. my review part 2. been listening for over a week now and as i put in last weeks blog what i thought of simon as an artist, ill leave that side of things alone. now the songs....... really catchy all of them .i have always loved "your my girl" even from the demo days so i could say that was my favourite, but as i listen to the album through in the order it is produced the professionalism of the sound in general, vocals, keyboards,guitar ect, not forgeting this is modern love songs, even power ballads i cant help thinking it could very easily pass for a great movie soundtrack... stick tom hanks, hellen hunt, a big airport and a few tears at the end ,its all there or is it time for my medication? hey well done simon dorey wishing you all the sucess you deserve. the hardest thing in the world is getting the world to listen to independant music, give it a go guys its great |
