I'd like to meet:Band of the Week: WolfmotherYes, so they're hairy and Australian and perhaps a bit... (don't tell anyone) prog. Don't run away though. This trio will steal your heart. Consisting of Myles Heskett, Chris Ross and Andrew Stockdale, Wolfmother moved out from private jamming sessions into the public arena in 2004 with their first EP. After six months of touring it was time to start recording and Wolfmother booked into Hollywood studio Cherokee, famous for hosting sessions from the like of Pink Floyd, for six weeks of rehearsals. Finally recording commenced in at Sound City studios home of famous albums such as Nirvana's Nevermind and bands including Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Guns 'N' Roses and many others. The album touched down in Australia debuting at #3 in the charts as well as winning the acolade of Album of the Year, and quickly became platinum selling. Listen to White Unicorn - This is how prog should have been done instead of wallowing in overblown percussion solos. Who cares that its even a tale about mythical horned animals? Love Train - damn funky; that's all. Woman - one of their biggest singles, singer Stockdale yelps and whines like Jack White, while the guitar riffs bounce along excitedly.
