About Me |
|
| I grew up in a musical family and began playing the violin at a young age. Classical music was my focus and it wasn't until college that I started pursuing jazz, bluegrass and early country. I also began teaching violin at a summer music program and discovered my love of teaching. After college, I decided to move down South to learn more about roots music from the source. In Asheville I've been learning from wonderful musicians such as Arvil Freeman, Jim Shumate, and Riley Baugus, to name a few. I'm currently teaching fiddle privately as well as in two area public schools. I also taught at the Swannanoa Gathering in 2008 and will be teaching again in 2009 at Fiddle Week. While I've been focusing on performing bluegrass and country music, I still play classical when I have the opportunity. | |
