| Le groupe Lahaka a été formé en 2005 par le flutist / saxophoniste new-yorkais Joshua Levitt. Lahaka est une rencontre musicale liant entre elles deux grandes traditions: celle de la musique orientale avec ses rythmes et ses timbres, et celle du jazz avec ses harmonies et ses improvisations. Lahaka doit sa saveur à la présence d’instruments acoustiques particulièrement mis en valeur, tels que le nay (flûte orientale) et le oud (luth) et qui tous deux contribuent à un subtil mélange des genres. Les compositions sont basées sur des modes et des rythmes traditionnels avec une ouverture sur les musiques actuelles. Ainsi Lahaka, espère offrir à ses auditeurs un répertoire à la fois original et authentique. Tous les membres de ce groupe sont des musiciens confirmés issus des milieux du jazz et de la musique orientale.} Lahaka is a project formed by Nayati / Saxophonist Joshua Levitt, who relocated from New York to Paris in 2001. The group plays original compositions which are based around the sound of the Nai (flute) and Oud (lute), accompanied by jazz harmonies on the piano and doublebass.
