| Denise Sullivan is the author of the first published biography of The White Stripes: Sweethearts of the Blues along with Rip It Up! Rock'n'Roll Rulebreakers (featuring her interviews with Ike Turner, Wanda Jackson, Ray and Dave Davies of the Kinks, Talking Heads, Peter Case, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Spiritualized, Shonen Knife and 14 more) and the only oral history of the South's most successful alternative band, R.E.M.--Talk About the Passion. A contributor to the following reference books--The All Music Guide to Rock, the MOJO Collection, the Rough Guide to Country Music, the Underground Guide to San Francisco and the Virgin Guide to San Francisco--she's also written at one time or another for the following newspapers, magazines or publications: San Francisco Chronicle, SF Weekly, SF Bay Guardian, MOJO, Q, Vox, BAM, East Bay Express, SF Chronicle Magazine, RayGun Addicted to Noise, and rollingstone.com,plus many more. From 1994-2006, she wrote a live music column for the Contra Costa Times. She also works as a copywriter and is CEO of ABC, the Acme Bio Co, serving the music community with all of its press and written material needs (including liner notes and your band's bio) for the past 25 years. She has recently completed Starry Eyes, a novel for young rockers and is currently at work on her fourth non-fiction music book, an examination of race, class and popular music titled Fight the Power: Soundtrack to a Revolution, to be published by Lawrence Hill Books in 2009.
