Michelle's dad has been narrowed down to three rugby teams that passed through South Yorkshire in 1983. And this mix seems to be the perfect combination for the number one breakfast show in South Yorkshire and the North Midlands. Obviously, any good show needs a talking hamster, and in recent sample testing, "Hallamster" overtook James Blunt in popularity. He even helped Big John launch his "Read To Succeed Campaign" to (successfully) fund additional teaching assistants in local schools. Hallamster's autobiography has been an hysterical revelation, and demand for a printed form is unprecedented. Getting right behind the music in 2006, prompted Big John to track down an 80's legend, who lives in Doncaster. And with the incredible backing and support of listeners, John Parr re-recorded and re-released his worldwide number one hit from 1985, "St Elmo's Fire". The team delivered CD's to local stores and sold out within one week. We even reached No 7 on the Indie Singles Chart. All proceeds went to our charity "Help A Hallam Child". The single even prompted a video that really got South Yorkshire folk talking. Another project followed, and the show went on to raise an incredible £40,000 in 4 weeks to rebuild the playground at Rotherham General Hospital. And it was all thanks to our listeners. With a weekly celebrity guest - often disarmed by Big John's healthy disrespect for their PR agenda, a Stuntman, a "4 Year Old Game Show Host" (Producer James' daughter), the variety of features and games on Big John @ Breakfast ensure that the show is truly different every day.
