Dr. Disco Shrimp was born in New York 2003, and the first members were Thor, Holmar Filipson and the singer Unnur Andrea. With the band being split accross countries, Holmar living in New York, and Unnur and Thor in Iceland, it became difficult for the band to cooperate. Holmar was then replaced by Adalsteinn Gudmundson, better known as Yagya. Dr. Disco Shrimp performed several times in Iceland as well as they held concerts in U.S.A and Norway .Their music has been described as a blend of 80´s pop, Italo Disco, Electro and House Music. Recently Dr. Disco Shrimp decided to take the band a little further and added guitarplayer Örn B. Arnarson and second singer Sveinbjorg Petursdottir to the band and at that point they decided the name "Cocktail Vomit" would be much more suitable. Besides putting they´re energy into musical vomit, the bands main producer Thor has worked with several famous musicians such as Björk and Sigurrós and has realeased a number of solo records. He ran the Icelandic music label Thule Musik for many years, the home of such bands as múm, Exos, Apparat Organ Quartet and Trabant. Thor has been a Dj since 1984 and has played records all over the globe. Unnur Andrea is a visual artist who´s focus has mostly been on videos, best described as a surreal and sometimes grotesque fusion of music, acting, short stories and abnormal characters. Her work been shown in Chicago, New York, London, Los Angeles, Paris and Barcelona just to mention a few. Besides having a long history as a professional choir singer and vocalist in a number of bands, Sveinbjörg is currently working her way up to a TV show producer in Icelands biggest media corporation 365 media.
