Early in life, Dom-1 had made up his mind to do music for a living. Chris moved out of DE to New London/Groton Connecticut at the age of 4. For the next 8 years, Chris started to realize his love for hip-hop. Chris started to write/created rhymes at the age of 9. By the age of 12 Chris started writing songs that represented the style of hip-hop he was surrounded by in Connecticut. At the age of 13, Chris moved back to De with his family. Along with Chriss new found love for rapping, Chris brought a new found style of rapping back to DE. At 14years old, Dom-1 recorded his first studio song. By the age of 16, Dom-1 had established himself as one of DEs most promising MCs. In June of 1994, Dom-1 started a group called Tre-Squad consisting of himself, Dino-D, ET, and NTS. Shortly after the group was formed, Tre-Squad was ask to perform at one of Formula Productions city wide hip-hop parties. Shortly after the event, Dom-1 started to get recognition for his amazing hip-hop style. In Aug. of 1997, Dom-1 staked his claim as one of DEs finest by defeating Formula (..1 ranked) in the finals of the 1st annual DE. Top Dawg Rap Battle. This victory sparked a year long rivalry between Dom-1 and Formula, In July of 1998 Dom-1 and Formula decided to put aside there differences and collaborate on a song for Dom-1s first underground album Pass the Teck. Dom –1 was the 1st and only rapper in DE to write, produce and distribute his very own double Cd entitled “Total Domination”(19,000 copies Underground),which dropped in January of 2000 and is known by many to be a classic. Shortly after the Underground success of this Cd, Dom-1 was offered many Independent deals by Semi large labels such as 7th Sign, Antra and more. Dom –1 decided to continue with his label that he started called Tre- Squad Entertainment which was co – owned by fellow Tre-Squad member N.T.S,
Dom –1 has collaborated with a lot of different artist such as Rakim,Akon and Bizzy Bone. Dom –1 (Along with his YL Partner) has appeared on over 75 Mixtapes in the last 2 – 3 years. Since 2003 Dom – 1 is best known with his collaborations with the Bone Family such as Bizzy, Krayzie,Layzie, Double R and more.
