| Bud Spencer (born October 31, 1929), born as Carlo Pedersoli, is a famous Italian actor. He holds a doctorate in law, and has registered several patents.Carlo Pedersoli was born in Naples. A successful swimmer in his youth, he was the first Italian to swim the 100 metre freestyle in less than one minute. Took part in the 1952 Olympic Games, ending fifth in the same discipline, and had another olympic appearance four years later. His swimming career ended in 1957. Also rumoured to be a successful water polo player.His first movie appearance was as an emperor's guard in Quo Vadis in 1951. He later met Terence Hill with whom he made a large number of Italian Westerns, including God forgives, I don't (1968), They call me Trinity (1971) and Trinity is Still My Name (1972). He also wrote screenplays and texts for some of his movies. His fanbase is particularly large in Europe.Spencer married Maria Amato in 1960 and they have three children, Giuseppe (1961), Christine (1962) and Diamante (1972). His screen name was reportedly chosen to pay homage to Spencer Tracy in 1967 as well as his favourite American beer Budweiser. Other sources report that he found it funny to call himself "bud" despite his weight and body size.He established Mistral Air in 1984 but left it to buy a textile mill producing clothes for children.In 2005 Spencer entered politics, unsuccessfully standing as regional councillor in Lazio for the Forza Italia party.
