| The beauty of the brick....in particular, one of the many laid by the steady hands of noble laborers...wasn't enough to counter the trappings of small minds against a heart in the right place. Eventually, the lure of the left coast won out over the working class paradigm that is a place called Providence. After years of moderate contentment persuing punk endeavors, this boy caved in to the call of the fertile creative soil of the Bay Area. Arriving, as a cliche' (literally getting off of a plane with only a suitcase and a guitar) the stubborn heart eventually succumbed again, this time to an appreciation for unapologetic melodies and lyrics. The songs are not meant to re-invent the musical wheel....they are more a pastiche of homage....to the craftsmen (and women) who came before....and an attempt at honesty that makes some uncomfortable. Songs are more constructed than composed...made into spaces where the ether of mood and nostalgia co-habitate. These are humble constructs, not too decorative, not too utilitarian...... made with care...(this time with sound as the brick stand-in)...almost as if by the steady hands of a noble laborer......................."Originality is of no concern to me, authenticity is the only thing that matters."
