| Roy the Roach become deeply involved with `dance music’ in the mid 80's with the opening of seminal rare groove shop Quaff Records. The shop was an integral part of that music movement and the warehouse scene that developed from it. When 'House' music arrived the shop became the forerunner in providing music to the ever increasing flock of DJ's that are now considered the founders and mainstay of what has become a worldwide phenomenon. This along with his role on London’s then favourite radio station Kiss FM, cemented his connection with the rise of club culture as we know it.As a DJ he has taken his trade mark brand of funky club grooves to almost every corner of the globe. From his early residencies at Kiss clubs Spirit & Spice, to the many summers in Ibiza, tour DJ for Jamiroquai, Sundance Tours across the Med, Angels of Love in Naples, yearly visits to New Zealand, regular trips playing ‘House’ in Jamaica, The Ministry of Sound, Back to Basics, Miss Moneypennys, Worlddance, AWOL… the list is endless.In 2000 he was part of the team that founded and developed Trust The DJ, the webs foremost DJ portal, and through that began working with KLP the agency that conceptualised and executed ‘The Smirnoff Experience’. Without doubt one of the most successful brand based global music programmes in existence.2002 he took the job of Talent Director at KLP Entertainment where he currently resides, as well as taking care of bookings for Jazzie B & Soul II Soul, and representing kiwi legend Nathan Haines.Roy can still be found behind the decks on a regular basis with recent visits to Brazil, Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Venezuela not forgetting London & Watford..... | |
