| Downwords are a South Yorkshire based heavy metal band. Born from the ashes of unsung Rotherham heroes Newt. A mix of flesh shredding, earth shaking riffs with face melting guitar solos, pounding bass that strikes at the very foundations of the soul, percussion to cause concussion; a blood curdling scream that could petrify a brick! None of this may acctually be true, but you won't find out enless you drag your worthless carcass down to one of our gigs!The life of Downwords has been an awkward one, as soon as we feel like were going somewhere we get kicked in the teeth again usually members leaving for one reason or another or just not sharing the same commitment of the core of the band. Followed by a long period of inactivity due to not being able to find anyone who fit into our ideals or again shared the same level of commitment. So me (Paul - Drums) & Leigh (Guitars) took a few months out to form METALPHETAMINE a metal covers band with three of the dudes from Touch Of Evil. But now we're coming back with a renewed hunger for the music we love
