| Stacy Karis Dulan is an old soul in a young body. Born and raised in Oakland, CA, Stacy began using music at an early age as a way of venting frustration and communicating where simple words can often fail. Her vocal style is often compared with Tamia, Mariah Carey and Alicia Keys. Stacy has been performing from five years old and has been cultivating her voice and stage presence ever since. Her musical influences during childhood include Frank Sinatra, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Aerosmith, Whitney Houston, Tupac, Ella Fitzgerald, Fred Hammond, and CeCe Winans, among many others. Stacy attended Golden Gate Academy, a private school in the Oakland hills. While attending school there, she was apart of at least four choirs, the band and bell choir, enhancing her knowledge of many diverse types of music. Graduating in 1998, she briefly attended college at Oakwood College in Huntsville, AL, where she became a member of the elite Dynamic Praise choir, which she credits with cultivating her voice into a more mature instrument. She took a break from singing and joined the United States Marine Corps, where she became a Russian Linguist. Although her goals temporarily shifted while serving in the military, she never fully lost touch with her dream. After five years of honorable service, Stacy was discharged from the Corps and moved to Washington, DC, bringing with her all of her West coast upbringing and experience. She has been working with Dymond Productions on her demo since May of 2005, and is nearly finished. She strives to show people the value of the words in songs, not just the melody. She believes that it takes many parts to make a song whole. Along with music, she is studied acting at the Studio Theatre Acting Conservatory in DC. In March of 2007, she relocated to Los Angeles, CA, where she currently resides. | |
