About Me
My name is Kat (Katherine) and I am a 36 year old artist and single-mom living in San Antonio, Texas. I am an international visual artist (meaning I have also shown outside the USA, lol) working with my love of mixed-media, assemblage, found-object inspired jewelry...collage and digital art as well. I have exhibited my work internationally...other that the US, in Italy and Mexico. My artwork ranges from digital hybrids,found object art... to unique mixed media pieces as well as unusual one-of-a-kind jewelry. I am a mother to 6 1/2 year old twins (a boy and a girl), who are the joy of my life. Children can definitely teach you how to enjoy the simple things in life (which most of us 'grown-ups' tend to forget..or overlook quite easily.(including myself.))...My children teach me...to re-discover the feeling of fascination of things we sometimes take for granted.I walk to and from places....observing what I might find on the ground...attractive shapes, pieces of worn metal...which all eventually end up in an art piece. I am always...looking. So, there you have it in a nutshell...definitely an eccentric old soul! I am also looking for artists, musicians, writers, jewelry designers of any genre to keep in contact and network with. I am always looking for intelligent new friends...creative souls from all artistic genres....and unique individuals! I believe in a common phrase I am sure you have heard in some point of your life..."Treat one as you would expect them to treat you." I am a proud member of the SAN ANTONIO CRAFT MAFIA...great bunch of creative girls! I also spend much of my time doing things with my twins...I also am pretty big into collecting old vinyls for my record player....yes, I said RECORD PLAYER! Since the majority of my art deals with found objects...I love to venture into antique stores, flea markets....collect old tools to actually use creating my art...I have an OBSESSIVE habit of collecting antique handwritten letters and journals....so much more if you want to know!
