melissa's page Melissa Bell is a singing vetran...former lead sing with soul II Soul , BV's for stevie wonder, whitney, Queen, the who, Gun & roses. , Lisa stansfield, George micheal, sir Elton john, liza minelli,peabo bryson, oliver cheatham,sarah brightman..the list goes on!Born in London to British/Jamaican parents, melissa's career started like this......whilst working as a customer services superviser at marks and spencer marble arch, melissa entered the firms annual karaoke competition and won!. At work, everyone was shocked at the performance and commented that melissa should leave the store and persue a professional singing career. exctly 7 days after that fateful karaeoke competition, melissa resigned from the store Later that same week, whilst attending the infamous 291 talent show, hackney, melissa hijacked the stage and gave a impromptu rendition of memories (gladys knight) to which she received a 5 minute standing ovation.Skully from Anditione records ( Mary Rose, Hughie crawford) just happened to be in the audience and offered melissa a deal on the spot.Debut single "Reconsider" was released and spent 7 weeks at No.1 in the BBC Urban charts...4 weeks at No.1 in the kiss FM" sweet rythmns" charts it stayed on the Choice FM playlist for 7 months and was the most requested tune for 3 months. Reconsider as picked up by Radio 1 and melissa was invited to host her own radio 1 breakfast show slot with bruno brookes ..where she she would entertain the listeners by chatting and singing acapella!Reconsider was officialy the overall fastest selling street soul track in 1992 and melissa was voted the "Brightest new talent" to emerge in 1992whilst this was going on, melissa recieved a call from soul II soul's jazzie B who informed her that he was so impressed by her that he wanted her to join soul II soul as lead singer melissa went on to release two top 20 singles and 3 albums with the band The single "wish" was certified Goldafter 5 world tours...endless sessions....endless BV's, melissa is still going STRONG and currently working , writing and touring with the infamous Mark Waterman! .. melissa now divides her time with her husband and children in Melbourne, Bahrain and London Send me a Voice Comment.
