| Luke Oswald’s interest in drums started when he was only a few years old. After first learning to play the trumpet, Luke shifted his focus to drums when a family friend stored their drum set at his house for a few months. Luke then started playing in band settings at church as early as 7th grade and continued through high school. During this time, Luke looked for every opportunity to use his passion for music, playing in numerous music ensembles.After high school, Luke went on to study Music Business and performance at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. In college, Luke honed in on his rudimental techniques while still exploring his love for the trap set and various musical styles. Once again, he took advantage of every possible avenue of playing. Luke gained experience in concert/symphonic band settings, jazz ensemble, swing choir, jazz combos, and rock/pop/country/R&B bands. In fact, Luke had the opportunity to meet other aspiring musicians with the same musical fervor to begin several independent bands that gained local and regional notoriety.After college, Luke moved to Nashville, Tennessee to further pursue his performing aspirations and studies. While finishing his internship for his Music Business degree, Luke took several lessons from the drumming community in and around Nashville. He applied this knowledge shortly thereafter as he moved back to the Midwest to once again collaborate with his college contacts to create Tenth Hour Calling, a band that would tour across the Midwest and sell 3,000+ CD’s over a span of 1 1/2 years.Throughout Luke’s college career and during the years following, he has also been actively involved in teaching private percussion lessons. For the past 7 years, Luke has maintained a studio of as many as 30 percussion students, and has taught drum set clinics throughout the Midwest. Luke’s passion for drumming not only lies within the realm of performance but obviously also exists in the educating of other aspiring drummers to give them the tools needed to pursue their artistic dreams.Luke is currently the drummer for The Innocence.
