| Boogiewood is a collaboration of Gerald Tomez and Wolfgang "Jesse" Linhart founded 2003. They met during a 'nightflight' in a Viennese bar and found they had many musical similarities. The emerging fusion marked the beginning of many Club sessions, which, in cooperation with several guest performers, had the audience dancing wildly.The wonderful mixture between Jesse's longstanding live jazz experience as a vocalist and Gerald's exquisite choice of sound and musical background as DJ and guitarist made the duo an insider tip within the Viennese Club Scene.While Jesse, gained recognition with his Jazz Group 'Reposado', Gerald co-produced several tracks with 'Freedom Satellite', a band from the 'Vienna Scientists Recordings' collective.Jesse went through education as an actor, as well as studying jazz at the Viennese university of contemporary music, well-knowing the Austrian 'scene' for a long time due to his jobs at several 'it' bars and clubs in Vienna. His latest project is called 'Now Pfow (B.d.D.), a hot, talented jazz collective appearing in clubs arround Austria and across borders.Gerald has worked as a professional commodity trader, later as designer in the fashion industry and is now in financial software development. Further, he is deejaying around the world since the mid 90s.Now, both are working on their debut album, to be finished soon. The sounds ranges from jazzy hip-hop beats, groovy funkbreaks, downbeat to brazilian/bossa house with influences by the early jazz/latin/funk scene of the 50-70s. | |
