Sounds Like: The Touched, s/t EP (demo): If you can get past the cover art, which is unlikely given that it features a lone chocolate-covered banana, you'll discover that Louisville's The Touched are yet another band trapped in a sticky sludge faintly reminiscent of the Stooges. As music, the EP barely qualifies: the mealy-mouthed yelps and laughably mixed drumming (um, guitars please?) obscure whatever small pleasures might be extracted. However, as an academic exercise, it does serve as an important reminder of how truly exceptional Detroit's original sons were. For every 1000 bands that attempts this caustic, misanthropic testosterone-punk, maybe one succeeds in avoiding the perilous tendency to bury itself in the rubble.
