| .. The Jives began twice upon a time...., in the dead of night, when Matt, a bassist of no fixed hair-cut, had a dream that a babbling monkey came to his bed and said,"LET THERE BE JIVES!!!!" Matt awoke from his dream and vowed to put together to most musically musical music playing band of musicians ever to play music! "First, I need a drummer." Matt thought. So he went to his local corner shop and bought a Kinder Egg. Inside were the pieces of what was to become Ian, along with some little instructions. Matt ate the egg and set about his task, building Ian. It was an arduos task that took all of eleventy one seconds, but he stuck at it and eventually his creation was complete, righteous and holy in all ways. Now a guitarist was to be found. Matt and Ian stumbled upon Dr Piddles, (as he was then known) wandering through the upper regions of Babylon, searching for what he called The Abominable Sock Monkey. Matt suggested that such a creature was merely a myth and that Dr Piddles was a crap name, so they renamed him Martyn and he hopped on board to play guitar. Now they were three. "Keyboards are what we need and what we need are keyboards!" They proclaimed, so they set off in search of a mythical creature they had heard of called a Phil. They had all heard of The Phil in scary stories their mothers used to tell them. Stories of a man with fingers so long if he scratched his arse he could bite his nails at the same time! As chance would have it Phil was summering just off Montego Bay aboard his yacht The Saucy Sue, with the England cricket team and the African godess of plenty. A phone call was all it took and he agreed to join up. "It would be nice to have two guitarists" said Martyn and the others agreed. So thet set sail to Liverpool, home of The Beatles and The Backstreet Boys in search of a scouse they could proudly display to their mothers. They found one in the shape of Mike, a bushy haired chap with a life threatening ham addiction. They got him through rehab and in two dog years he was ready to play. "This is our band and we shall be called The Jives", and they were and they are. |
