About Me |
|
| Hey, check out my new material above and let me know what you think Based in Worcester, England, I took up the guitar in 1978 after hearing two instrumental tracks on the radio. One of them was 'Wonderful Land' by The Shadows and the other was 'Peter Gunn' by Duane Eddy. Both tracks are still stunning to hear, even these days. Another band that caught my ear were - Johnny Kidd & The Pirates, they were probably one of the hardest sounding bands during the late 1950's and early 1960's. I quite often listen their songs and give them a serious blasting through the house!! I have remained active on the music scene since 1979 and although most of my work has been with cover bands, songwriting has been the biggest occupier of my time. Most of the compositions in the early days were instrumentals, influenced by The Shadows & The Ventures, so there was a definite slant towards 'Surf' music. However, vocally is was The Beach Boys, The Searchers, CSN&Y and The Beatles that had a massive impact on writing, so the songs began to incorporate complex harmonies . Throughout the 1980's/1990's worked some great bands as lead guitarist/vocalist, which included: The Stingrays, Night Shift, Blue Movers and One World. Since 2000, I have worked, at ffg Studios as a session musician and played guitar and bass on album projects with 1960's legends Dave Berry & Brian Poole. The song was a cover of the Bee Gees 'To Love Somebody' and was released in November 2006 on an independent label in Europe. Other artistes on the tracks included: Brian Poole's daughters (Alicias Attick) on backing vocals and Rob Mason on drums. In 2002 worked in the studio with girl band 'Spirit' which eventually went on to become part of Gemini (of notorious Eurovision failure fame in Turkey) and late in 2005 completed a session playing two tracks on Bouzouki for a Hollywood film company. A new album 'SUNDAZE' is in the making and should have been ready by January 2008, but as usual time has got the better of me, so it will now hopefully be completed by October 2008. It will include the songs: Sundaze, Forever, The Same Man, My Country, I Think Of You, Right Or Wrong, Hunger For Your Love, Somewhere Someday, When Evening Comes, Meadows Of My Mind, Song For Summer. SUNDAZE is slightly behind schedule, mainly due to time constraints. A third album will start in October 2008 and will be Instrumental. So if you are into The Shadows, The Fentones, The Ventures, Duane Eddy or Dick Dale........ You may just like it? If you are a band, producer, or artiste looking for new material to record and release, then let me know, as I may just have a song for you!! I would like to thank everyone for their fantastic support over the last three years. This has been quite a busy time and with the next album on its way... I think it may just get busier. I must also say a massive thank you to Babs for creating & running the Support page based in Germany. Looks like I must make sure that I get over there to do some gigs very soon. Latest Information Update: I will be assembling a band during the autumn and rehearsing tracks from both albums, plus a few fave cover tracks, for some dates in 2009 in UK, Germany and hopefully the USA. I am currently looking for a bass player with vocal harmony capabilities, so if you are interested, then give me a shout! If you're into guitars and twangy sounds, then the following were used on the album 'Black Day' and the new album Sundaze: Rickenbacker 360-12 V64 Rickenbacker 330 - Blueboy Fender USA Telecaster - 'Power Deluxe' Fender USA Jaguar - 1962 Reissue Burns - Marvin Burns - John Rostill - Shadows Bass Gretsch - Nashville 6120 'Brian Setzer Gretsch 6119 Fender Strat '62 JV Fender 1979 Stratocaster - 'Antigua' Dan Electro 6-String Bass Takamine EN20C Yamaha CPX8-12 Gibson - Les Paul Standard Burns Jazz Split-Sonic Gibson ES-335 Fender -Precision Bass Demetrious -Bouzouki Amps were: VOX AC30-TBX, Fender 'Twin'-Reverb, VOX AD120-VT Valvetronix.
