| I quite like the description "middle youth" because I do feel that's me, I can't imagine ever wanting to stop having fun and enjoying music. I became a dedicated Bowie fan when I was about 13, I remember going to the shops after school and buying Bowie and T.Rex singles. My introduction to live music was Bowie at Wembley Arena in 1976! I'm also a life-long Kate Bush fan. Then punk came along and although I never really became a punk I used to go to the gigs, saw Siouxsie & The Banshees, X-Ray Spex, and The Clash. Then the eighties happened and it was all about Visage, Eurythmics, Human League. Then I kind of lost interest in Bowie and music generally and got into a bit of a rut, a state of friendless boredom, lost my confidence and never went out. Eventually it was dance/house music that saved me and I started listening to Pete Tong on the radio and then venturing out to nightclubs on my own. Making friends tends to be a slow process on the south coast of England but eventually I got to know people and now I know loads of people and it's really great. I see music very much as something that's forward moving and it's great to be discovering bands and artists like the contemporary ones I've listed.
