Television:Pretty much anything on Comedy Central other than Mad TV. I completely adore stand up comedians. I could watch them for hours. I watch a lot of VH1... I'm a nerd. I love Adult Swim. I think cartoons are awesome... anything from Ren and Stimpy to Rocco to the Fairly Odd Parents. |

Books:Books I recommend everyone read:The Thief of Always - Clive Barker It's hard to give a decent description with out giving too much away. It's a nostalgic read about a boy named Harvey who wishes he could escape the "great gray beast" that is February. Scar Tissue - Anthony Keidis Autobiography for the Chili Peppers' front man. Regardless of whether or not you're a huge fan it gives some strong insight to their music. He's had a crazy life and the book details everything from drug addiction to meeting the Dali Lama. How to Make Love Like a Porn Star (a cautionary tale) - Jenna Jameson Even if you think she's a big plastic whore, and you look down on the porn profession, she's incredibly intelligent and it's probably one of the best written novels I've encountered. Bad Chili - Joe Lansdale One of the his books about Hap and Leonard, if it's the first of the series you pick up theres enough detail in it that you won't feel lost for not reading the previous novels. The first chapter Hap gets attacked by a rabid squirrel... if that doesn't hold your attention don't bother with the rest of the book. The Alienist - Caleb Carr Story about early forensics. A serial killer murders boy prostitutes in NYC. The first chapter will grab your attention and if it doesn't gross you out too much you should be hooked for the rest of the book. The follow up to it is pretty good, though not as enchanting as the first novel. Freakonomics - Stephen Dubner & Steven Levitt Can't really explain too much. It exposes a lot of things about the world that you wouldn't really realize otherwise. [What's the REAL reason crime has been declining since the 80's (yes, declining... it's just that reporting it has gone up so drastically), What do school teachers and sumo wrestlers have in common.] Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs - Chuck Klosterman He has an interesting perspective when it comes to pop culture. It will make you giggle periodically and possibly change your opinion about love songs, chick flicks, the Sims, and rap music. America (the book) Its set up like a text book and put out by the makers of the Daily Show and Colbert Report it's defiantly an amusing read for rainy days. |
