I think the definition of a self taught artist means you haven't had a formal art education. I do not feel truely self taught though because I have had classes, workshops and other artist who have influenced my development as an artist. It certainly is a continuos evolution and one I don't think I will ever be satisfied in completing in my lifetime. I just continue and strive to learn more. My paintings have primarily been done as therapy or some may say as a hobby. I do sell my work but not in the way that can be classified as an actual career in art. It certainly isn't enough to say I earn my living as an artist. It is simply a form of self expression and a way for me to visually record things I find beautiful in my world. It is the one thing in my life I can truely feel is uniquely me. Thanks for visiting my page. I hope you are inspired by my visions and will also be looking for the beauty that is in you world. |
