About Me

..Today, still wanted by the government, he survives as a soldier of hardcore. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find him, maybe you can hire err... WORK HARD - PLAY HARDCORE (and drug free!) - It's Jack-knife, described by many as one dj who constantly stays true to his 'proper ardkore' roots. Certainly not a sheep and I don't follow trends unless it suits me however, I consider myself to be very versatile pushing rave music past its known boundaries. I like what I play and I play what I bloody well like! My early passion for rare groove and hip hop still shines and I regularly play under various aliases depending on the type of music.THE STARTNow here's the real deal...In 1987, I was finally blessed with a pair of Soundlabs, a Realistic mixer and some electricity and like most people, tried to mix until the microwave went 'ping'...SOMETHING OF INTEREST Hip hop 1987-1991 but it was around late 89, I started off doing houseparties for friends at college mainly spinning ragga, hip hop and rare groove moving with Rampage (Kiss FM), however my college mate introduced me to the world of rave by taking me to smaller acid house parties in South London but because of the drugs, I couldn't get into it. Then came an opportunity to see Public Enemy at Biology but the event was cancelled when we got there and I still remember hundreds of people just standing around gutted but this is where my first links to the rave scene started so the journey down the A3 was not a complete waste of time! I also design flyers under the alias 'The Man From Uncle'!EARLY DAYS The crossover track is Depth Charge (han do jin). I started off playing house music on pirate radio (Energy) in early 1991 whilst at college and started doing more parties through this time as well as doing the rounds at most of the raves - I floated between Busbys, Marshgate and The Warehouse (Tascos) for a good year or so. Unfortunately in November 1992, I had to come off radio and the loss of some of my tunes temporarily killed my passion. Done the do's over the years, was more hardcore orientated than jungle but supported both equally.EVENTSSome of the [rave] events I have put needle to record are:DMC UK, Fascination, Orange, Dreamscape, Raindance, Club Labrynth, Dream Allnighters, One Nation, United Dance, Dance Paradise, Son of Dance, Jungle Fever, Slammin' Vinyl, Pure Science, Freedom 2 Dance, Back to 92, TOV, Innovation, Breakin' Science, Heat and Moondance as well as many smaller events and also abroad in Europe (France and Germany) and Canada (Hip Hop only). Jack-knife is also a familiar name within the radio scene to this present day and a key founder member and the force behind the rave collective oSv.THE PRESENTFor the last couple of years I have been concentrating on the hip hop side of things but I still love me beloved Ardkore. I am also a graduate with a Degree in Graphic and Media Design and currently work as a professional photographer.ON AIROthers just imitate and want to sound like - on the twos and ones deck destroying dirty undiluted no sellout shhhh with Jack-knife on the legendary Kool Hardcore - 1-3pm (GMT) - Super Sunday - Kool 94.6 FM London and it ain't old skool, it's FXXKIN' ARDKORE!...
