ARTICLE OF THE WEEK Written By: Angel Meyers Busch Drivers up to it? By Alan Bailey Monday, April 15, 2007It is clear that the Busch series needs the cup drivers to race in the series for many reasons. One of which is filling the stands, if it wasn’t for the cup divers racing, most of the fans would not watch or go to the Busch series races. Another reason is that it gives the Busch divers the expertise of driving with the cup driver and therefore makes the Busch drivers a little better and gives them more confidents knowing they out-raced a cup driver. What the NASCAR Busch Series doesn’t need is the big Cup teams coming to races with the same drivers and sponsors. It is clear that most sponsors want a cup driver driving the cars at least part-time in order to get that finish that they believe only a cup driver can get. It’s not true. It’s the fact that the big cup teams can use better know-how and technology in the cars that the “Stand Alone Busch Teams” can not. It’s not the drivers, it’s the cars. Since 2004 there have been 21 wins that were won by a non-cup driver, only five of those were won by “Stand Alone Busch Teams.” Needless to say the Busch series hasn’t been the “Busch series” for quite some time. It’s been more like race practice for the cup drivers, teams, and sponsors. During this weekend's Busch Race in Nashville Carl Edwards drove the #60 Dish Network Ford to his second Busch Series win of the 2007 season. The first one hundred laps proved that the Busch series can but on a show without half the field being cup drivers and teams. David Stremme, David Reutimann, Scott Wimmer, Jason Leffler, Shane Huffman, Ragan Smith, David Ragan, and Todd Kluever all led for the first one hundred laps. The first 86 laps of the race was caution free, which is the most green flag laps run consecutively this year in the Busch Series. There was a set of green flag pit stops and there were only two yellow flags. The first one hundred laps also had a lot of passing on the track. It wasn’t the same old thing were some drivers went up and some went down. Some when up, some stayed then went up then down, some went down the up then stayed. For the most part it was the best Busch racing in over five years. This weekend’s Busch Race proves that the Busch divers are capable of putting on a show and that maybe they don’t need all the cup drivers racing every weekend in the Busch series.By Alan Bailey       &n bsp      &am p;nbsp             &n bsp      &am p;nbsp             &n bsp  LATEST NEWS The Week Of March 12,2007 I am redoing some of the site as of now.Not a huge change just cleaning it up a bit.
