| I am the singularity known as Buzz Kiefer. That's a name I chose for myself (sort of). I never believed in Santa Clause or any of the other lies they tell children. I did fall for fundamentalist religion for a very long time. That was also my own choice. My parents were more into what is sometimes called "the occult". My dad was a hypnotist and my mother was an astrologer and dream interpreter. I was taught to keep a dream journal from a very early age. Mom did charts for the family as a whole, and for each of us individually and once she did a chart for a band I started. She sometimes led us in seances. That woman could drop into a trance in no time flat. They would invite friends and neighbors over on Saturday nights for hypnosis sessions and Dad would put people to sleep and make them do weird things. Nothing kinky. Just good family entertainment. Accordingly, I have led a somewhat mystical life. It can be scary sometimes which might be why I rebelled as a young man and went for the easy answers of evangelical Christianity. But the wonders never cease and I was still surrounded by the unexplainable. I used to think that love songs were trivial. That the power of music should be for the greater mysteries of the spirit and the magical science of cosmology. Then I fell in love. I realized that there is no greater magic and no deeper mystery than the sexual bonding of two people in love. I don't mean one-night stands and fly-by-night romances. That's cool too, but more comical than mystical. But love is a confoundment and there ain't no sortin' it out. The wise become foolish and fools become wise. Our deeper selves that we don't even know jump out at the people we love whether we like it or not. If we're smart, we take note of who we are when this happens. If we're stupid (which all of us mostly are) we cycle through the same bullshit our whole lives. I write songs because I love women and I'm infatuated with love. I like to poke fun at love and I like to extol it. I love guys too. Mainly because we sit around and talk about women. You hear a lot about men only wanting one thing from women. You hear it from men and you hear it from women. I can think of about a thousand things off the top of my head that I want from a woman. No matter what it might seem like, I promise you that even the jaded and broken are still hoping for that one right thing. The hardest of hearts, and the coldest of sociopaths are still vulnerable to the right smile, the right touch. Love is gonna cure this world, so break out the medicine ladies and gentlemen and let's get it on. I hitch-hiked across the country when I was a young man and some would say that I'm hitch-hiking through life. Catching a ride whenever I can to wherever. It doesn't matter as long as my soul keeps moving. If I had to sum me up in a few words, I'd say I'm a red-neck mystic. Would-be mediator between God and the Devil. Whatever I believe, I believe privately. Publicly I question and doubt everything, but I am always full of hope that something is true. I just don't necessarily want to know what it is.
