Art Share Los Angeles is a community arts organization whose mission is to shape lives through art, education and community action. Over the last seven years, Art Share has had inspiring results in creating a variety of programs that address educational and social needs by using the arts, counseling, mentoring and technology as tools for change. Founded in 1997 Art Share has since grown in both size and impact. In 1999 the Founder, was honored with the receipt of President Clintons Daily Points of Light Award. Vice President Gore has also recognized Art Share for its efforts in working with youth toward non-violent practices. The Los Angeles Times has dubbed Art Share the Town Hall of downtown Los Angeles for its function as the meeting place of culture, ideas and education. With assistance from the Los Angeles Community Development Bank, Art Share acquired and renovated a 30,000 square foot abandoned warehouse centered in the burgeoning Downtown Arts District. The two story facility houses, exhibitions, workshops, classroom spaces and 30 residential lofts for low-income artists. With a generous $250,000 grant from The Department of Education and The Commission for Children, Youth and Their Families, Art Share recently completed construction on a dance studio and theater, as well as creating a state of the art computer lab. Congress earmarked funds specifically for Art Share to develop web design, animation and computer classes. These exciting additions have enabled Art Share to expand upon the excellent services it provides to the inner-city community and continue to promote cultural excellence to under-served communities in Los Angeles.We currently rent our facilities for art openings, film shoots, private functions, fundraisers, weddings and film screenings.
