About Me |

To tell you about myself is to show you a world of two cultures colliding to make one individual me. Let's begin... I was born in Providence, Rhode Island, and was raised in Minnesota. My family originates from West Africa, Liberia. I was raised on a split roller coaster of two different cultures; African -vs- American. I have a big family in which I am the youngest girl. I grew up happy and humble, and uniquely different from everyone else.Since I was a young girl I have been into music, theater, and fashion. I used to walk around with headphones on listening to music and singing when I thought no one else was around. I loved to dress up and invent my own styles (I still do that to this day). Moving forward , I slipped up a few times and sang in front of a few people, who all told me I had a beautiful voice. I was already a poet and a songwriter, I just never really shared it with anyone. So I got my confidence up and started singing at open mics around town eventually building experience. About a year after I started singing around town, I was at a soccer tournament helping my stepfather with his venue. The Lady's of Soul came right up to me and said “hey are you interested in being a Lady of Soul?” I had seen things about them around town so I gave them my number and started immediately. The fashion world is very intriguing to me. I'm such a fashion mogul. I love getting dressed up, getting my makeup and my hair done, especially by someone else who is a professional. Photo shoots are enlightening as well. I like pushing myself in different poses and working with creative photographers. It's amazing what you can create and relate through a photo. Theater is another love of mine. Changing your mind set to convey another is something so deep rooted to me. I hope to inspire others with what I convey on film as well as on stage. My goals are to one day be well known and respected in the entertainment industry whether it's through, fashion, music, or acting. While I'm here I want to be an inspirational motivator to others. All and all, I am inspired by music. Especially my two Jim's. Jimmy Hendrix and Jim Morrison. Music is something you feel from within, and I am anxious to let it all out. -Josie Ivey- |

Make custom Glitter Images Writing short stories, poetry, singing, dancing, music, cool concerts, shows, Television industry, plays, art, hair, clothes, fashion, shoes, keeping healthy and fit. Watching UFC, and Poker though I don't know how to play. I guess I'm interested in a lot of things even things I don't know about yet. My interests are constantly evolving and sometimes changes. Music:Jazz, Blues,Reggae, Dancehall Reggae, Reggaeton, African Music, Good Hip-Hop, and some rough shit like Three 6 Mafia. Rock but not the hardcore shit. -I don't like people yelling at me or sounding demonic.- Old School R&B and some new school like MJB, Alicia Keys, Maxwell, Vivian Green etc. Neo-soul music like Roots, Common, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Floetry etc. Music in other languages like French or Spanish is always cool especially French when you just wanna relax. I just got turned on to Wookiefoot, Matisyahu, and Particles. -Some tight shit- As always this list could go on and will constantly evolve.- |

Movies:Basically I appreciate any good movie, there are so many lame ones out there right now. Plus it seems like nobody has any new ideas. So many movies keep getting re-done. But I do like Thrillers, and Indies a lot. Good documentries, or true stories like What's Love Got To Do With It, -Angela Bassett played Tina Turner to a tee. City Of God, and now Walk the Line. Plus movies that mess with your head like SAW or Requiem for A Dream or Matrix. You know... They make you think. |

Television:I must say I do watch a lot of reality shows. They've taken over. Me and my girls are definitely Desperate Housewives fans. Comedy Central, Food Network -I don't know how but I've lost hours of my days zoning out on Food Network- National Geographic and Court TV. -You learn some interesting stuff on those channels. I recently got turned on to UFC and Poker watching. UFC is the shit. I would like to see more sitcoms back on t.v. Like the ones from back in da day. Like Seinfield,Cheers, Cosby Show etc. |

Heroes:MLK, Malcolm X, Nelson Mandela, I don't know those are the well known heroes that I personally relate to.Heroes come in all forms. I feel like anyone who fights for something positive they believe in or make changes for the better good of people is a hero. |
