About Me |
|
| "Saw Wheel is an alt-country/acoustic-punk band which comes from a small town in Mississippi and now resides in Austin, Texas. They play wonderful music on traditional instruments and have a great folky sound with gravelly vocals layered over top. The singer/songwriter, Ronnie Joe, also played in a great band called One Reason. This is camp fire music sung from the heart. The stripped down, serene acoustic sound of Saw Wheel reminds us of the picking and twanging of other contemporary acts like Rumbleseat, Lucero, Whiskey & Co. and the late great Uncle Tupelo." Sounds Like: Saw Wheel – The Next Train, CD"Saw Wheel is RJ. A guy with a beard, a flannel shirt, acoustic guitar, harmonica and a road worn but rich voice. He sings songs about drinking brown liquor, working shitty jobs and not knowing where certain roads are gonna lead that I think is both an analogy for the uncertainties of life AND just being lost as fuck after too much of that brown booze. Granted the best way to experience these homespun and personal (but still kind of punk- he covers Avail’s Lombardy St) accounts is in a smoky bar or in front of a smoky campfire, but the recording is good and the songwriting sound."Tim Scott Screaming Bloody Mess Record Label: No Idea, Pizza Wolf, Hill Billy Stew, Team Science Type of Label: Indie |
