About Me |
|
MyGen Profile Generator Dear people, myspace has brought such great musicians to my ears and heart as well as people who appreciate my music a lot. In February my new CD "Coming Home At Last" has been released in America. I'm a little proud since it is not very easy for a German to get something started there. And I will watch with lots of curiosity how things will develop. This CD is a special one to me. Most of the lyrics touch painful spots, open doors and ask questions that go beyond the line I have been at before. It was quite a process while writing and became a very emotional, deep experience while recording. I'm so thankful that Sequoia Records believed in it as it is and accepted the fact that it may not be easy on some people. It means a lot to me. A friend of mine gave me a photography of his holiness the Dalai Lama the other day. He smiles. And he has a special place in my little Tourbus now. Don't give up - it says to me. And it keeps feeding my belief that we can change some of the false connections in our world. There needs to be something that strenghtens the soft spot, the peaceful mind and our hearts to not turn bitter and cold and I know that music is a strong tool and inspiration. LOVE IS MY RELIGION Love and Lux to you all! christina Christina Lux writes music from the soul. Since the release of her debut EP (She Is Me) in 1998, and the three classic albums that followed, this charismatic German-born songwriter has charmed and disarmed audiences around the world with her earthy delivery and tales of the human condition.Sometimes, her songs are painful. At times, they're brutally honest. But they're never less than magnetic. LUX Pure & Live An intimate, cozy music club. The lights go on softly. On the stage a woman, two guitars and a microphone. An electric atmosphere in the auditorium and then the first notes: Christina Lux's voice enwraps the soul and brings sensually dark melancholy and touching joy to the ears with an extraordinary intimacy. She dances between soul and folk, breaks out into multi-colored, percussive scat vocals and tells of journeys on the bumpy roads of her inner life. Of the courage to take the difficult road, straight through the pain, hopelessness and bitterness into a poetry, which suddenly lets everything happen, that make sense. Christina Lux asks uncomfortable questions, is political, critical, unadjusted - and yet she is no protest singer. She is too personal and fragile for that. "One of the finest CDs of the last months, with a quality and depth that come close to the best moments of such authorities as Joni Mitchell and Tracy Chapman", so enthused the German magazine AKUSTIK GITARRE about Christina Lux's last album "Coming Home At Last". (Released as well in the U.S. with Sequoia Records) 'Lux - Pure & Live' brings these songs, originally recorded as a quartet, right back to their essence: vocals and guitar. Christina Lux charms with a charismatic performance, with a voice between satin soft timbre and strong soul singing and with a guitar style that builds the perfect accompaniment for the heartfelt songs - from lively, funky rhythms to tender pearled chords. She leaves time to breathe and for improvisation and so it is that unique songs are formed that only exist on this evening. A master of "instant composing". Christina Lux touches us with passionate articulation, with devotion and presence, with authenticity, with a spiritual life that has moved into wonderful music. 'Lux - Pure & Live' is more than concert documentation. This recording is a sensual experience of the highest quality and it whisks us away into the musical and spiritual world of a highly individual artist. LABEL: PRUDENCE 398.6738.2 DISTRIBUTION: ROUGH TRADE LC 07235 FILE UNDER: NEW ADULT CONTEMPORARY "Love don't choose between black or white/Jewish, Muslim, Christian, girl or guy," sings Lux on Love Is My Religion, "but blindly passing on traditions leads to fanaticism." Elsewhere on the album, she sighs through the pain of Man Without A Face ("When you cry while making love/when a certain look of a man makes you fall apart") and lets the sun come up with the redemptive Healing Waters ("I curl up in my coat and I hear you say, don't hold them back, it's healing waters"). Produced with Matthias Krauss, the album also reunites Lux with her long-time sound engineer (and Grammy winner 2006), Klaus Genuit, who has lent the perfect atmospherics to these tales of love and loss. Bringing the songs to life, meanwhile, is Lux's band, which features Marius Goldhammer (bass), Tommy Baldu (drums), Heiko Braun (percussion), Matthias Krauss (keyboards and guitar) and special guest Joo Kraus (trumpet). Coming Home At Last was released on 3/2/2006 on BSC Music. For more information please visit WWW.CHRISTINALUX.DE “…one word sums up the songwriting of Christina Lux…stimulating. Coming Home At Last captivates you with its warmth and its therapeutic, cathartic nature. The arrangements are guitar-driven with a pop music type of gloss and influences that range from jazz to blues to folk.”- Music Design InReview “...a great voice. Her soft ballads sung with a sensual dark voice are classically embedded in grooving, tasteful arrangements. Lots of power in her voice, lyrics which say a great deal. Christina definitely has got her own style.”Feedback Magazine "Masterfully composed ballads somewhere between Ricky Lee Jones and Shawn Colvin...Sensual music to dive into"Soundcheck "What separates this musician from others is a beautiful, really penetrating voice that she uses with much spontaneity and a feeling for improvisation"Guitar + Bass Manchmal hoert man einen Song, der einen wieder daran erinnert, wer man ist. I curl up in my coat and I hear you say - don't hold them back - it's healing waters. 1998 veroeffentlichte die Saengerin und Gitarristin ihre erste EP "She is me", 1999 folgt das erste Album "Little Luxuries". Serie the O.C. 2006 Nominierung fuer den deutschen Weltmusikpreis RUTH. 2007 ver..ffentlicht Sequioa Records ihr Album "Coming home at last" in den U.S.A. "Coming Home At Last" ist so Eines. Stefan Maelck November 2005 Would you be there with arms wide open - If you knew all of this, if you knew all of me - If you saw our hearts colliding - With the old bitterness - Would you still stand here behind me - Just in case Lux WWW.CHRISTINALUX.DE FOTOS: JIM RAKETE DOWNLOAD IN 300 DPI UNTER WWW.CHRISTINALUX.DE ODER WWW.BKW-NET.DE LABEL: PRUDENCE 398.6725.2 VERTRIEB: ROUGH TRADE LC 07235 FILE UNDER: NEW ADULT CONTEMPORARY |
