| The Everglades Awareness Campaign is an ongoing endeavor to build public awareness and involvement for environmental issues - with a focus on South Florida. Currently, the primary goal of the Everglades Awareness Campaign is to promote the Sierra Club - Miami Chapters Skyway campaign. The Skyway proposal would be an alternative to the current Tamiami Trail - the ground level roadway that blocks the flow of the Everglades water across the entire state of Florida. The Skyway would allow the water to flow naturally and provide travelers with an outstanding view of this ecological treasure. This proposal is in front of key politicians, yet more public support is needed before this project will happen. We encourage everyone to contact their representatives in support of this vital project. As part of the Everglades Awareness Campaign, Ploppy Palace Production and The Wallflower Gallery are utilizing Art Activism to match the political and grassroots efforts of various organizations like the Sierra Clubs Miami Chapter, Clean Water Action, the Marine Animal Rescue Society (MARS), the Miami-Dade Green Party, Emerge Miami, Florida PIRG, FIU Students For Enviro Action, Institute for Regional Conservation, Animal Rights Foundation Of Florida and other progressive groups. In addition, the Everglades Awareness Campaign is connecting with educational institutions like the Environmental Studies Department at Florida International University to present factual information about ecology and the human impact on the Everglades. The Everglades Awareness Benefit Concert Series is part of the community outreach program that is designed to promote environmental awareness and public involvement in maintaining the Everglades. The Everglades Awareness Campaign includes educational speakers, musical showcases and an Everglades Art Exhibition and Auction. The Everglades Awareness Campaign is working to expand understanding of ecology, community activism, artistic interaction and political involvement. Organizers of this on going effort are looking for people who embrace liberal & progressive points of view. At the same time, we are working to create a network that reaches out to broader demographics in order to instill more understanding about environmental conservation, natural resource management, sustainable development and respect for wildlife. This campaign will continue to evolve and expand as more events develop. Artists, activists and community supporters continue to recognize the contributions of The Wallflower Gallery. All of the artists and performers involved in the Everglades Awareness Campaign have been featured at The Wallflower Gallery.
