We are very excited to announce that the brand new four-track CD is now available from ABATON BOOK COMPANY . 'Tall Trees' was recorded by Pantaleimon in Dorset and East Sussex in the Summer 2007, with Michael Tanner (Plinth) and Nick Palmer (Directorsound). All the tracks were especially created for this project. The Warming Dance of the Honey Bees Sing Night Swallow Tall Trees Abaton always release their CDs in extremely small editions, so be quick with your ordering! ************************************************************ ************************************************ PANTALEIMON (pan-ta-lay-mon) is the pseudonym of one Andria Degens (dee-jens). Andria Degens was born on the 8th November in Caterham, Surrey, England and is descended from Dutch and Irish ancestry. Her parents moved from place to place so most of her childhood was spent in Devon and Somerset. She intuitively started playing and singing when she was a young child. In her own words, “I would play around with a little Casio or my acoustic guitar, working out tunes and riffs and I always had a soft spot for circularity. I used to record things on an old cassette recorder my dad gave me”. After many years working within the business of music (Tower Records, Mute Records, Tender Prey Management), and whilst in her early twenties, she took what she thought would be a brief trip around the globe, but it ended up lasting two and half years. During that journey she experienced an epiphany and another world opened up to her – “a world which had always been there for me, but which I had forgotten about”. That world was the inspiration behind the music of Pantaleimon. Andria creates simple, haunting and beautiful music, somewhere between meditative and psychedelic. Her first album, 'Trees Hold Time', was released in 1999 and was directly inspired by the experiences during her travels. After that an EP 'Change My World' which featured a couple of new studio tracks and some live recordings, was released in 2001. It wasn't until her second album, 'Mercy Oceans' was released in 2007 that she began to gain recognition for her work. The time in between the two albums Andria was immersed in the practice and teaching of yoga and meditation. Andria says “after 'Trees Hold Time' I felt I had nothing else to give to the world musically, but then suddenly in 2005 the floodgates opened and out of that came the material for 'Cloudburst' and 'Mercy Oceans' ". 'Cloudburst' was the conceptual four track EP released earlier in 2007 and it also received many positive reviews. Andria has made guest appearances with the band Wire (live at the Clapham Grand), Dirty Three (Andria appears on 'Horse Stories'), and with Current 93 ('Black Ships Ate The Sky'). Pantaleimon have also contributed music to Cam Archer's film 'Wild Tigers I Have Known', Susan Stenger’s(Band of Susans) 'Soundtrack For An Exhibition', and projects by Irr. App. (Ext.), Nurse With Wound and Marc Pilley. Pantaleimon have had the honour to play shows with Antony & the Johnsons, Baby Dee, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy Six Organs Of Admittance, Current 93, 16 Horsepower, and Matt Sweeney. Andria Degens is also co-founder of Durtro Jnana Records.
