About Me

MyGen Profile GeneratorThis profile was made in the memory of Oslos finest rockband ever, Gluecifer, also known as the Kings of Rock. After more than a decade of recording and touring, the band pulled the plug in July 2005, only followed by a short string of farewell shows in Sept/Oct the same year. The headline "The mighty Glue is falling apart" came as a shock to their fans all over the world, and noone could believe the band wanted to break up just over a year after the 2004 release "Automatic thrill". This record proved to be their best one, a huge production with some of the heaviest and most catchy tunes ever to come out of the Gluecifer camp. Nevertheless, the pressrelease left no doubt this was a serious decision. Both singer Biff Malibu and guitarplayer Raldo Useless were tired of being in a nonstop touring rockband. The magic was gone, and it didn't even occur as an interesting thought for guitarplayer and co-founding member Captain Poon, long-term drummer Danny Young, and bassplayer Stu Manx, to continue without the two. To show their fans how much they appreciated the attention and devotion throughout the years, they decided to do a short farewell tour in about ten handpicked cities in Europe, and a very last performance in New York 10-28-05. The New York gig was the last time I had the chance to catch them live, and eventhough a lot of people are expecting them to make a comeback in a few years like so many other bands have done before them, Poon was quite clear upon such questions, "It's not gonna happen!" Today the five guys are pre-occupied with different stuff, both musical and non-musical. Singer Biff Malibu is working as a journalist for a Norwegian radiostation. Guitarplayer Raldo Useless is working for his record distribution company Tuba. He's also playing some liveshows with a quite odd and experimental group called Cloroform. Drummer Danny Young has no confirmed plans at the moment, but for those who had the honour to see him bang the drums in Gluecifer, for Christ's sake give this man a job, now! Stu Manx, not sure, but a band called The 3856 has been mentioned. Captain Poon is the only member who will make a serious attempt to keep it up as a fulltime rock'n'roll musician. Well, those of us who know Gluecifer from other than just a song on the radio were anything but shocked to hear his statements upon future plans. "I've been writing songs, for more than the last ten years, done a shitload of touring, and recorded some great albums together with my friends in Gluecifer. I really enjoyed what we had, but I'm really happy at this point being able to form a new outfit with new people. After all these years you get stuck in a certain pattern, you close your eyes and think that this is the only way to go. The break-up descision forced me to think differently upon certain matters, and today I wouldn't even consider going back". At this very moment he's writing new material and putting together a new band. This band will of course be presented right here on myspace as soon as a name and a line-up is confirmed. A very loud voice is telling me the Captain's got some pretty hot shit in the oven. FUTURE RELEASES ! There will definetely be a few releases in the future for both old and new-born fans to a enjoy. A "Best of" Gluecifer with all the hits, supplied by a bonus disc with a lot of songs most of you haven't heard before is in the making. A shaped up version of the Gluecifer records from the White jazz catalogue is on the list. There will also be a dvd with the last Oslo performance at Sentrum Scene 10-14-05. On this one you will see Gluecifer playing a sold-out show in front of 2000 people for the very last time in Oslo, where it all began. An extatic crowd, crying and cheering, and a band on stage giving it all they got and a lot more. Everyone of you can look forward to a 1h.43min. with one of the most blistering performances in the history of the band, and hopefully some funny bonusmaterial. Releasedates for all products are still to be set and confirmed, but the main plan is to have every little thing available before the fall 2006.visit the bands homepage www.gluecifer.com
