About Me |
| Most people find me calm and serious at first, but quite soon find me to also be talkative and very easy to open up. I'm kind and considerate and appreciate friendship a lot. I enjoy finding things in people to respect. I love absurd humour and like to make people smile :D I'm a conservative and an explorer who likes being surprised; such paradoxes keep me entertained every day even when I'm alone.
Although I can be quite an idealist, what I enjoy most in a discussion is evolving opinions together without trying to 'win'. I'm sincere and honest, which you'll have to learn to appreciate along with my self-awareness and tendency to try and get others to be more self-aware and open too. There's all sorts of typical non-guy things I like, such as shopping, fashion and clothes, and similarly have typical things I have no interest in such as football and cars. All the same I'm very manly and will confront any claims of the opposite by screaming like a girl... I mean, by referring to my manly chesthair and folding my face into a heavy-browed frown ;) Because I have a big interest in various things and people, I like to make an effort to get to know people (and things) and understand them. I appreciate the same from others. My hobbies are numerous and only superceeded by my interests, and you can find them somewhere else in my profile (; |

My Interests |
| Music means a lot to me. I play guitar and sing in a band called Ravenstorm and listen to lots of music to fit my moods. Lately it's on a break, so I'm now working on my own material which is a combination of pop, metal and folk. If I get the chance I'll add in some electronics as well.
I've done swordfighting and would still like to do something exotic, but right now I'm just recovering from a shoulder infection and doing some simple yoga and fitness exercises. Roleplaying is one of my other main interests. A few times a year I step into the role of a complicated and grumpy shaman, to play in a fantasy-setting with about 500 other lunatics. Think of it as going to the theater and taking part in it. It's hard to describe without sounding like a geek, but if you ever want to try acting or simply getting away from daily life, I recommend it. In May/June 2006 I went to Japan for 2 weeks, and it made a huge impression on me. I've met friends that I initially met through MySpace, and made new friends as well. What can I say: I love Japan! In March/April 2007 I went a second time. Although the trip in itself is quite affordable, I'm saving up for a slightly longer stay in 2008. Travelling makes me feel like a world citizen, and that's an addictive feeling. I'm feeling very adventurous (; Japan I find interesting because of its society and subcultures that are so extremely different from eachother and from what I'm used to, yet it all still is part of a strong identity. Particularly the fashion and outrageous visual subcultures, the music and other arts, and entertainment and definitely the great people I've met and friends I've made there are a reason to love that country. But hey, I love it here in Holland too ^^ You wanna meet up and go somewhere, let me know ! Or if you're reading this and and just feel like sharing your traveling experience, please do! Since my trip to Japan in 2006 I also have a website about my traveling here . I'm slacking in the upkeep, but I mean to do a major overhaul some day soon, honest! My current job is webdesign which I find more interesting than I had expected, but in my spare time I do like to read up on various other things in my field. I love to learn and improve my expertise. |
I'd like to meet:Sincere people from all over the world with a love for learning, understanding and sharing, and preferably able to look at things with a healthy dose of humour from time to time (:People who are into weird but wearable fashion are also welcome! I want to explore new fashion :D I prefer meeting people who make an effort to really get to know each other. Friends can count on my support and care if they let me. I pass for being 'friend' number 15775 on somebody's list. Ah, and did I mention I appreciate openness and honesty? (; |
