PiK - Who are the members of Casting Fadora? Chris - Chris Benton, Justin "Hal" Cote, and Willie Mckiver PiK - What is the name of your debut album? Chris - Chris and Willie were in a former band together "The Crofters" for several years and are from the same area, Wille and Justin knew each other as they were good friends attending the same high school. PiK - What is the name of your debut album? Chris - The name of our debut album is "Life Underfire"PiK - What is your lead single off of the album? Chris - Lead single off the album is "The Deep South"PiK - When will the album be released? Chris - The album will be out early april 2006.PiK - How well is the recording process going? Chris - The recording is going well. Better than expected.PiK - How much will you tour to support this album? Chris - I hope to tour lots after releasing the album, touring is what I live for.PiK - Who would you like to tour with the most? Chris - The band i would love to tour with the most would have to be probably No Use For a Name, but that will never happen.PiK - What is the biggest venue that you would like to play at? Chris - I wouldn't really like to play a venue that is too big, I like the more intimate venues.PiK - Who are your influences? Chris - Some of my influences are No Use for a Name, Good Riddance, Belvedere, Strung Out and tonnes of other bands, the other guys influences are bands like the Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine, stuff like that.PiK - How do you feel about the reviews that you have been getting? Chris - The reviews we have been getting seem to be good, I have only read two, but ya, I'm the kinda guy were someone could say we sucked bad and I would probably just get a kick out of it. But it is nice to hear good things about your band for sure.PiK - Where do you see yourselves in a couple of years? Chris - In a couple years we are hoping to be touring lots, but's it's really hard to say what will happen. I live day by day.www.castingfadora.com The Thresherswith Judd Muth, lead singer of The Threshers (Kingston, ON). PiK: Who are the members of The Threshers? Muth: Judd Muth, vox lyrics, rhythm. Paul Saulnier, lead guitar. Matt Darch, bass. Kelly Payne, drums, back-up vox. PiK: How did the band meet? Muth: In 1997 Matt and Judd went to high school together, became friends. In 2000 Kelly and Judd used to live next to each other on Division St. and jammed together with a few other musicians. In 2001 Paul and Judd met through mutual friends and decided to put a band together. In late 2002 and early 2003 Paul and Judd were in Toronto and made a very rough demo together titled "Die Runnin", it was never released but truly captures the sentiment and sound of The Threshers. In October of 2004 and back in Kingston again, Judd, Paul and Kelly had a jam, later that night Matt stopped by and the latest incarnation of The Threshers was born. We played gigs around Kingston for about a year compiling a repertoire before heading into the studio. PiK: What is the name of your current album? Muth: Motorvated PiK: Where did you record the Album? Muth: At the Bathouse in Bath Ontario, on the 11th of Dec. 2005. Our very good friend Aaron Holmburg engineered the album for us and we returned to the studio on the 20th of Jan. 2006 to remix and do a couple retakes. Aaron again handled the mixing, with assistance from our long time friend and fellow musician Shane Whitbred. PiK: What venue would you most like to play at? Muth: The Sky Dome! PiK: Who would you like to tour with the most? Muth: The Constantines, The Sadies, The Fembots, and The Who. PiK: What will be your single that you release from your new album? Muth: We haven’t thought about singles at all, but we have made a 13 song album that we are all very proud of. I and I feel that every song has its place on the album. But if you want to know which song is the most up-beat rockin' single type track, I'd have to recommend "Driver" it will most likely be the first track on the album and it has big balls! PiK: What inspires you when you write your lyrics? Muth: Life, I hate to sound cheesy, but it’s true. Everything that happens to me makes me write and I have good things to write about and bad things. Mainly, I just want to tell stories, and usually there is a moral or two thrown in. I am a Fan of old school country music, where the lyrics are as important as the melody. For an instance take my song "Country Man" "I will not apologize for loving like I do, Patsy, Hank and Merle, and Johnny Cash too. Just like them I'm as hard as nails and fast along my way, gonna break into heaven before I hit my grave. As they have yet to bribe me with the price tags of my dreams. and maybe there's no place in life, for a man like me. with dirt under my fingernails and a carburetor in my sink. Country men were made to work, and love and fight and drink. and I'm a country man." PiK: Who are your influences? Muth: Every member of The Threshers is a huge music fan, but that being said we all have extremely different tastes in music, which I feel is a key element in how we stay fresh. But we are a rock band through and through, so really our influences are any and everyone who we have ever seen rock a show. PiK: How do you feel about the reviews that you have been getting? Muth: Well we really liked the write up you did when we played with Big Jeezus Truck. Other than that I think we only got one other review and we got trashed cause we don’t play radio friendly pop music. PiK: Where do you see yourselves in a couple of years?
