I wanted to do something that would bring some fun, some joy and light, and sex! I wanted to get in touch with people who seem to like breasts the most, which frankly, are men.” b.a.b.e. founder Marcia Hrichison has spent 20 years working in the entertainment and music industries. In January of 2001, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Two months later, days after she produced “Backstage at the GRAMMYs” Marcia underwent a mastectomy, and chemotherapy. She also did a lot of research. Breast cancer fundraising activities and items were NOT sexy: pink kitchen appliances, pink scarves, pink bracelets, pink cookbooks, pink bears. The Facts About BreastsOne in every eight woman will develop breast cancer. Every three minutes a woman in the US is diagnosed with breast cancer. There are over two million women living in the United States who have been diagnosed with and treated for breast cancer. 41,000 women – 110 each day – are expected to die from breast cancer during 2006. By the time cancer is diagnosed, it has already been present for six to ten years. The breast is the leading cancer site among American women. Breast cancer is a ‘younger woman’s” disease: approximately 11,000 women under the age of 40 will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, and close to 1,300 will die. Younger women’s cancers are generally more aggressive and result in lower survival rates. One in eight women.
