Und das zu Recht. Die unabdingbare Härte von CALIBAN auf der einen und die von den Gitarren ausgehenden Tempoverschärfungen und -verschleppungen von SUIDAKRA auf der anderen Seite locken nach und nach viele Headbanger an. Kein Wunder, dass sich diese mit Moshpits und Wall-of-Death-Forderungen bei den Kölnern bedanken. Flinke Knaller wie 'Anthem Of The Lost' stehen den "großen" Metalcore-Vorbildern in nichts nach, zumal Frontakrobat J.C. Hades die Wechsel vom Growling zum klaren Singen ohne Probleme auf die Reihe bekommt. Das kompositorisch durchdachteste Material, die routinierteste Performance (Stichwort: Das Tier am Bass), schlichtweg die beste Band des Contests. German-Bio: Last One Dying - eine Zusammenkunft von Musikern aus drei verschiedenen Bands; ein Experiment, das außer Kontrolle geraten ist... Was als harmloser, spaßiger Zeitvertreib, als Ausgleich zum regulären Bandbetrieb gedacht war, entwickelte sich binnen kürzester Zeit zu einer selbständig denkenden, unberechenbaren Kreatur, die nicht aufhören kann zu fressen. Musikalisch betraten dabei alle drei Musiker mit ihrem Mix aus knüppelhartem Metal und ergreifenden Melodien Neuland, das sie aber sofort annektierten, um ihrem neugeborenen Monster den gebührenden Freilauf bieten zu können. Gefüttert wird die Bestie durch markanten Gesang und aggressive Shouts, die sich über variationsreiche Gitarrenarrangements und ausgefeiltes Schlagzeugspiel legen. So wurde dann auch Produzent Patrick Pedi Karwatka (u. A. an Produktionen von Such A Surge, Liquido, Two Dollar Haircut, Recbow beteiligt) schließlich auf das dreiköpfige Monster aufmerksam und man bannte gemeinsam die in nur 6 Proben entwickelten ersten 4 Songs auf Band. Die so entstandene EP gibt L.O.D. genügend Feuerkraft an die Hand, um nun mit einem weiterentwickelten Live Set unbesorgt den Weg durch die Hölle anzutreten… Auf der Bühne werden sie von ihren beiden Stagesklaven Androgeos und Sarpedon begleitet, die ihnen dabei helfen, die auf der EP enthaltene Qualität auf der Bühne entsprechend umzusetzen. English-Bio: Last One Dying – a gathering of musicians hailing from 3 different bands. An experiment gone out of control… This project started out as a harmless and fun pastime and was intended to be a balance to the regular band activities. Soon, it developed into an independently thinking and erratic creature unable to stop gorging. Musically, this mixture of heavy metal and touching melodies has been virgin soil for the trio. However; they have claimed this new territory in order to provide the newborn monster with a befitting outlet. The beast is fed by striking vocals and aggressive shouting, laid over by eclectic guitar arrangements and sophisticated drumming. Albeit the fact that this band is moving in a genre where a lot has already been said and done (mainly by US-bands such as All That Remains or Killswitch Engage), L.O.D. is out to set their own course. This caught producer Patrick “Pedi” Karwatka’s (worked on productions such as Such A Surge, Liquido, Two Dollar Haircut and Recbow, among others) attention, which then led to the recording of the first 4 songs after having had only 6 band practices to write and develop them. The result of this collaboration is an EP filled with incredible fire and intensity, allowing L.O.D. to walk their way through hell without any trouble. Live, the three musicians will be accompanied by their stage minions Androgeos and Sarpedon. They will help to perfectly transform the quality of the EP onto the stage. |
