What is Beg 4 Nothing?Whether it's the thumping beats of heavy funk, the visceral scream of down-home blues, the tender sobbing of the soul or the jaw-dropping technical runs of improvised instrumentals, Beg 4 Nothing has a sound to mirror every emotion. The band's rough-hewn, unbridles music cuts like a razor, hits like a train and asks the audience only to listen. It certainly doesn't beg; if anything, the quartet of bass and drums, guitar and saxophone either grips you by the neck or gently plucks your heartstrings. Either way, it will snatch your attention and hold on like a crocodile to a gazelle. True to their Austin roots, the band is relaxed and unassuming, tough and hard-edged. The group of tattooed, cigarette-smoking drinkers can tell no lies; only the harsh lessons of the balance between the streets and the soul, the lighthearted and the sexy, the cool and the mean, the good, the bad and the filthy. Simply said, the only real rule Beg 4 Nothing adheres to is absolute freedom -- the freedom to race with the top down, to pop a wheelie at 80 miles an hour, to punch your boss in the face when you've had enough, to take some down time when you feel the urge, to be in control of your own life and rocket toward the stars without remorse. And when you're this free, there's no need to beg. There's no need to borrow, there's no need to steal. When you're this free, all you need is the music. Beg for nothing.
