Profile GeneratorMidnight Legend: The Long Journey Towards Your Last GoodbyeIndependent release coming at the conclusion of 2007... Dark Faerie Symphony is the solo project of ("faerie") drag princess Kira Shikigami, formerly of Magical Project VI. All music is entirely written, performed, recorded, and distributed by Kira alone. The band members listed are manifestations of Kira's personalities, used for image and future (unconfirmed) performance purposes. Influences come from an unlikely blend of Black Metal, Rap, Euro-Techno, and Celtic music. There are no pre-programmed loops, PC programs, or samples outside of the synthesizer sound bases used in this music. Combining heavily distorted synth leads (no guitars), electronica grooves, synthetically processed and layered vocals, and mixed down in a "dirty industrial" style, DFS claims to be nothing more than a studio-only outlet for Kira's musical creations. Many that hear it seem to say it's a style that their ears need time to adjust to before the resulting thick wall of sound agrees with them. Once that happens though, whether they like it or not, they at least all agree that there's not much else out there like it. Good enough! The purpose of this project is to create - not to impress, market, or otherwise burden the world with its existence. As of now there are no plans for Dark Faerie Symphony to ever perform live, but that may one day change. Although, currently live performances are not possible due to equipment limitations.The debut of Kira Shikigami (also sometimes called "Shiki") to the underground musical world was in 1999 with a 5-track EP called "Immature Literature". That album was not distributed except to local friends. At that time, Kira went by Princess Nova. The first public release was the 2001 album, Jenna X, which despite no effort to advertise other than residing on the old MP3.com website, managed to sell a few copies. Then came the 2002 album, Phantasma, originally released as Magical Project VI. Both were written and recorded entirely by Kira alone, but at that time other band members were present for performance purposes. After splitting in 2004, the promised follow-up projects, Digital Death and Midnight Starlight were cancelled and the name Magical Project VI was buried. On October 31, 2005, Kira revived her studio and recorded the demo track, Blood-Coated Eyes, while wearing a black fairy costume. A friend present named Kira the "Dark Fairy Band" as a joke, which then became Dark Faerie Symphony that same day. The current album, Midnight Legend: The Long Journey Towards Your Last Goodbye, is completed and the cover art is being worked at. It will be available on CDBaby.com (and hopefully iTunes) upon release. The re-release of Phantasma will follow shortly, for a limited time.
