| You probably think that the Guitar playing, Foot stomping, Hollering blues ladies only exist in black and white, but there is one left and she fronts her very own band. Naomi Mather is a female singer/songwriter with a difference, her love and passion for delta blues. With her individual yet true to the roots guitar style and her gritty and sometimes English vocal approach she’s what you’d expect in a blues lady! Her song writing displays a sympathy to the traditional whilst is innovative and gives the time loved genre a twist of modernity and a hint of folk. Naomi was very lucky to encounter two great musicians whilst recently studying music at The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. Sam Lubin and Chris Nicholls bring exciting ingredients to her songs with their very own individual musical experiences and qualities. Sam Lubin is a drummer with unstoppable energy and ideas quite out of the ordinary. Having spent time working with some of Barbados’s finest musicians she shows a flare for Caribbean rhythms and loves to bring in a percussive sound to her beats. Chris Nicholls has been described as “tigger on Bass” as his skill for funk and his fluidity give his style a bouncy feel. His experiences although eclectic have armed him with the ability to be totally versatile and sympathetic to every song. Together The Naomi Mather Band are a three dimensional blend of old and new, fast and slow, light and shade and their musical chemistry blends all this together for a seamless sound. | |
