Myspace Layouts at Pimp-My-Profile.com / Music passion Sonia is a Songwriter/Singer/Certified Accountant…unlikely labels, still there is no denying her creativity and versatility. This is evidenced by the range of genres which she has penned thus far, from soulful RNB to folk, pop, reggae and rock. Her themes include topics like the power of change, love, failed relationships and positive inspiration to name a few.Born and raised in Barbados on the beautifully rugged east coast parish of St. Joseph, Sonia first sang in her school choir and landed regular roles in school productions from the age of ten. Music was always a passion; born into a musical family, she was surrounded by music from a very early age and listened as her father played the vinyl albums of greats such as Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Otis Redding and Wings on his turntable. She describes music as her purpose, “it fills my dreams…….it is my life.”Sonia is currently crafting her debut CD along with producer Duane(Producer In Me) Skerritt (Kolaiah Recording Studios), the CD cheekily entitled “Not Quite Reggae” features a wide range of genres and loads of interesting musical fusions.“I love crafting and creating songs….I love writing around a personal theme or telling a story which draws you in so much that you become hooked emotionally and mentally” “I want to create beautiful music, which stirs the listener, or wakes them up in one way or the another”“My goal is not only to progress as an artist, but to become a more evolved human being as well” |
