Monstrous Sound. That’s what you’ll get when listening to a Ren production. A virtual unknown in the Milwaukee hip-hop scene, this dark horse emerges as your producer’s favorite producer. With a list of influences that runs the musical gamut (i.e. Guns ‘N Roses, Curtis Mayfield, Chicago house DJ’s, Dr. Dre), Ren’s style and sound tends to be just as diverse. “As someone who has an appreciation for all music that is well produced and well written, I always seem to take a bit of what I listen to back to the lab with me. I view what I do as art so I feel like there’s no reason for me to try and put boundaries on what my music should sound like.” Known as much for his crisp sounding musical arrangements as his “no bullshit” approach to life, Ren will be the first to let you know when you need to step it up and he’s even more critical when it comes to his own work. Ren is all about putting in the time to perfect his craft. Known for spending an ungodly amount of time to get the right mix on a track, has landed him various projects that required him to do the recording and sound engineering. Very selective with who he works with, the names on his short list range from: Adebisi, QP, KB of Fam 1st, So-Low of Kansas City, MO, Meccah Malloh of United Nations, NK, San Diego’s Mr. Shadow, Virus Enterprises, A.L.I.A.S., June C, and Boom the Latin Assassin. His graphic design services and work ethic have also made him a “one-stop” fix for hip hop heads looking to put together a classic album package. Be on the lookout for Adebisi’s new album, “Hard Money”, with Ren playing the Executive Producer role. |
