| Karin Maria Pagel, vocals ⋅ Malte Pagel, piano All pieces were recorded 2006 except Jeux d'eau which was recorded 2000 ( 6 )"Duet No.3" ( M. Pagel ). Everybody loves the piano, but what's to do when none can be found? The answer is simple: One should use his (or her) integrated instrument. Recorded on November 10, 2006. ( 1 ) "Zueignung" ( R. Strauss ) . In his long life, Strauss changed his style of writing different times - from romantic to dodecaphonic and at last back to tonality. This restlessness doesn't take wonder when noticing that even as a teenager he was able to sublimate the experience of a whole century in one composition. Zueignung isn't a 'Lucky Punch'; some others of his early songs are touching in a similar way. Recorded on November 10, 2006.( 2 ) "Jeux d'eau" ( M. Ravel ) . Composers of all times used to imitate and integrate the sounds of nature, but modern times start off here: Not human aesthetic judgement but the water's own attributes determine harmony, rhythm, and form. Nevertheless, Ravel doesn't act as an observer but as an artist who respects scientific laws. Recorded Summer 2000. ( 3 ) "Cantad'un Lubo" ( M. Pagel ). Which is the right language for a song? After a long discussion, we excluded - for different reasons - all languages we ever heard of. Cantad'un Lubo is the first realization of the idea to create for every tune its own language. Recorded on November 10, 2006. ( 4 ) "Sonata in E minor K198 & Consolati e spera" ( D. Scarlatti ). It has become a game for three persons: Karin Maria chooses a Sonata Domenico wrote, and Malte makes it fit to the Aria. The newest example is K25, but an acceptable recording momentarily can't be found. Recorded on November 10, 2006. ( 5 ) "Sarapidande" (Excerpt) ( M. Pagel ) . Before this word became a synonym for our small ensemble, it was the title of one of 9 Caprices for voice solo.
