| I had a dream. I was on stage. I just finished performing after a very inspirational musician. We stood together. I looked out into the empty theatre. I woke up. The dreams continued day and night. I remembered dreaming of what I’ve actualized as a painter. I knew that once again destiny was calling. That day I decided to buy a guitar. I used my rent money walked down to the music store and bought a guitar from the musician who would later become my co-writer, Faron Andrei. We initially began as teacher and student learning how the play the guitar but over time it shifted to songwriting. It was a journey. The first time I tried to sing in front of him, I was too shy to look at him. Then there was the truth that paralyzed me: there were more talented musicians with years of experience and better voices. It was my lack of faith in my abilities and I became very discouraged. Faron began working with other musicians and I still only dreamt of what I wanted. But by January 2007 after over a year of pushing the dream to the furthest corner of my mind, I somehow came to terms with this destiny. I was walking along the streets in New York City when I decided to give Faron a call. I told him I was ready. I was ready to record and perform if he would be willing to work with me still. He agreed. So in the midst of a career as an artist (a painter/performance artist), the process with clear intention began. Most people would like to peg me down—are you a painter or a singer? But I’m just an ‘artist’. Here’s the thing: I paint when I paint. I sing when I sing. I write when I write. One feeds the other.
