While hiking through the Alps, one cold and grey November evening, our party came across the mouth of a cave larger than any that had been discovered in recorded history. Inside, we found the ruins of a great underground civilization, the lost city of Khazad-Dûm. Bewitched by the glow of ancient mithril, we delved deeper into the mountain's belly in search of riches beyond our wildest dreams. But instead we found horror. Instead we found the wrath of an ancient fire. Far we ran from the terrible fury of the keeper of the mountain, the Balrog: Durin's Bane. We were the only survivors and we are here to tell of the knowledge we found in those great cavernous halls, memories from an age long past... |
