Kaitlyn Baker is 13 years old. Kaitlyn started singing when she was about 4. She used to love for her Papaw to play the guitar, She would try to sing when he was playing before she could even talk. She began singing at church when she was 7 years old. The first song she sang was "As I Went Down To The River To Pray". Everyone was so amazed at what a big voice was coming out of that tiny little body. They just loved her and she loved to sing. Kaitlyn began competing in talent contests and won numerous ones such as Jenkins Days, and The Mountain Heritage Festival, she came in second place competing against adults at the age of 9 in the Isom Days Festival all of which were in Kentucky. She competed weekly when she was 11 and won the Kingsport Idol contest in Tennessee. She won the Wise Fall Fling, the VA/KY idol contest and came in second place competing against adults at the Clinch River Festival. She also won the VA/KY karaoke contest competing against adults. She won 8 hours of studio time at Big Mama's Recording Studio in Seymore TN. She went there and recorded 10 cover songs, she done so well with her first Country CD that she decided to make another one. She just completed her second cd. This one is a gospel cd and has 12 songs on it and most of them are original songs. Kaitlyn has opened up for - Sammy Kershaw, - Sawyer Brown, - Ricochet, - David Lee Murphy, - Doug Stone, - Mel McDaniel, - Coastrers and - Miss Virginia. Some of the words used to describe her in the newspapers are phenominal, awesome vocal glory, fabulous, a soulfull voice with power well beyond her years and extradinarily gifted. Brett Manning from the new tv show Can You Duet said to her "You are precocious, so advanced so young, you should have a bright future ahead of you." Singing has always been such a big part of Kaitlyn's life. She feels as though it is her purpose in life. She loves singing so much that sometimes she just forgets where she is and starts singing. Well needless to say that the middle of math class is no place to start singing R-E-S-P-E-C-T. That will get you in just a little bit of trouble. Kaitlyn is planning to make another country cd this winter and plans to persue her singing to the fullest. She wants to audition for the Nashville Star when she is old enough and maybe move to Nashville and reach for the stars.
