Well, well, well....here we go...this is a tribute page/fan page of sorts to that man we know and love – Spider from Powerman 5000. I don't know if there are other pages like this one out there on MySpace – if there is I'm adding to the list, if there isn't...well hey it's about time someone made one, don't ya think. And before any of you go and get all pissy about the info I've posted – the shit has already been posted on the internet so it's not like I'm posting something here that is wicked top secret. For those of you who don't already know, and damn it all you should, Spider is Rob Zombie's little brother. Yes that's right it's not some crazy ass rumor it's true! And get this....are you ready....Spider's real name is Michael D. Cummings and he graced this world with his presence on August 25, 1968. Yup he's a Virgo ladies (and gentleman I guess) who was born in good old Haverhill, Massachusetts (NO – that is NOT pronounced was two separate words). To our grave disappointment he is in fact a married man....so no matter how much you throw yourself at his feet and yell out to him how much you love him he is married. In an interview that is available at: http://www.taxi.com/transmitter/0411/headlineA0411.html, Spider has stated that he started playing in a band when he was in high school at the prime age of 14. And here in the cyber world there appears to be some dispute over which year it was that he dropped out of art school and started busting out the good stuff as MC Spider – some say it was 1990 while others say it was 1991 (I know it's only a year's difference but I don't want to mislead anyone here). Spider is the founder and lead singer of that kick ass band we all know and love so very much – Powerman 5000 (aka PM5K and Powerman). When Spider was asked about is musical influences in that interview on taxi.com he's quoted/noted as saying: “...The first thing I remember really developing my own tastes and excitement toward music was punk-rock stuff, early ska, like Madness, the Specials, and then the Sex Pistols, and the Ramones. That led to hard-core stuff like Minor Threat and Black Flag. That was when I got most excited about music and realized there was more out in the world besides Journey or REO Speedwagon, which was what all the other kids were listening to.” I suggest you check out the interview. Not only is Spider the founder and lead singer of Powerman 5000 but he is also the owner of Megatronic Records which has signed the band Halfcocked. I've had the pleasure of meeting Spider twice in 2007 and the rumors about him being a really nice guy couldn't be any more true – so here is a MySpace page dedicate to the man. For a man who's going to be 40 in 2008 he puts a lot of energy into his shows – he can take you from "When Worlds Collide" to "Swim with the Sharks" to "Watch the Sky for Me" and puts a little of the old school Powerman out there when he does "Who Do You Think You Are" – the dude has skills, there no doubting it. So please send me your pictures with Spider and the other band members (who are just as important) and even the pictures you've taken of Spider and the rest of Powerman doing their thing on stage and I'll add them to the photo album(s). If you want credit for your pictures you NEED to let me know – got it? Good!
