About Me |
|
| Jacob Heringman is one of the leading lutenists in the world. For twenty years now, he has been performing and recording as a soloist and with many leading singers and ensembles. He has made over sixty CDs, including seven solo lute discs, four with the the singer Catherine King, and five with the ensemble Virelai. Jacob can be heard in places as diverse as Joni Mitchells's "Travelogue", Barbara Bonney's "Fairest Isle", and many Hollywood soundtracks. Favourite colleagues include the viol consort Fretwork, the medieval ensemble The Dufay Collective, the renaissance ensemble Musica Antiqua of London, the composer Andrew Keeling, and others. Jacob specialises in the music of the sixteenth century, and this is the area in which he has been most active, though he is also very interested in medieval and modern music. Jacob teaches the lute at Trinity College of Music in London, York University, at many early music summer schools and courses, and privately. He is also a qualified teacher of the Alexander Technique, and a member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique. | |
