| Composer / Performer / Piano / Guitar / KeyboardsIntroducing a solo piano CD release of original compositions by Martin Horn entitled "First Flight". The titles Horizons' Kiss, Dancing in the Light, Angel Tears and Child on the Summit are from the CD collection. Encapsulated Disillusion is an impov experiment, Hello Love is a guitar composition performed with my limited skill on guitar. Enjoy. Born into music on the organ in Indiana at age 10 gave me the coordination but not the sensitivity for piano. Flying from the nest at eighteen, it would be ten years before I would own a keyboard again. Taking advantage of available pianos at Indian University I began exploring the incredible voice of this magnificent instrument. Guitar was the affordable instrument of choice at home until my first keyboard at age twenty nine. The ten year keyboard gap was filled with adventure in ultramarathon athletics, racing a bicycle across America in a televised 10 day event. At age thirty one the equation for athletic success was analyzed and concluded as "fifty percent God given and fifty percent driven". I was ten percent God given, ninety percent driven, so ended my career. At twenty nine the keyboard called my name again, I answered with all my heart, playing non stop since then. Composing began to shape the shadow of my quiet desperation for love. From an empty vessel the Spirit replenished my soul and gave life to a small fountain springing forth in gratitude. The songs are a thank you note to my Creator for his creation and a hope for others to open their eyes and see the wondrous works of God. Awakening from the dream realizing the need for sustenance, working odd jobs, shoveling manure, raking leaves, sweeping parking lots, trying to stay focused on music and not succumb to the "regular job" routine is difficult. Is it feed a fever and starve an artist, or is it starve an artist and feed a cold? I never get it right. So here I am, my little children of conception growing daily in promotion and becoming wise to the music world, hoping to find a home in some strangers heart I can soon call friend.
