| Jarmo Romppanen has released his first solo-album called Solmogen in November 2007. It draws its inspiration from the Swedish-speaking tradition in the south of Finland.
Romppanen lives in the town of Porvoo about 50 kilometers to the east of the capital, Helsinki. Folk and traditional music has always been vividly alive, particularly among the
Swedish-speaking people of this province. Jarmo has taken part of that into this first solo-album of his. It includes old fiddle-tunes, songs and some of his own pieces as well,
freshly and willfully performed. The mandolin, mandola and overtone flute are set on fire with the help of some special musical friends.
Romppanen is an urban folk-musician, who received his Master of Music degree from the Sibelius Academy Department of Folk Music in 2002. He works as a performing
artist, composer, arranger and music-teacher. He is also a part of many other groups in Finland, for example Plektronite, Kouon Frouva and Lieto. Jarmo Romppanen har publicerat sin första soloskiva Solmogen i november 2007. Romppanen är finskspråkig, men på denna skiva koncentrerar han sig på finlandssvensk folkmusik från Östra Nyland . Skivan innehåller gamla fiollåtar, visor samt egna kompositioner, allt färskt och starkt framfört. Mandolin, mandola och sälgflöjt får vind i seglen med hjälp av några gästande vänner. Romppanen är en stadsspelman, som har avlagt musikmagistersexamen vid Sibelius-Akademins folkmusikavdelningen år 2002. Han arbetar som musiker, tonsättare, arrangör samt musikpedagog. Han spelar även i grupperna Lieto, Kouon Frouva och Plektronite. The album "SOLMOGEN" released in November 2007!
